ETP Research Project
Hychor secured £10,000 through the Energy Technology Partnership to support the upscaling and development of its technology, working with the University of Aberdeen on system performance, materials and test system manufacture.
Enterprise Fellowship and Graduation
Dr Jani Shibuya was awarded an Enterprise Fellowship by the Royal Academy of Engineering and completed his PhD in electrochemistry at the University of Aberdeen, supporting his full-time work to develop Hychor.
Hychor Goes Abroad
Hychor joined a UK delegation to Bilbao, where founder Dr Jani Shibuya presented the company and its seawater hydrogen technology to Spanish energy and innovation stakeholders before attending the Nobel Laureate Meeting in Lindau.
Proof of Concept
Hychor successfully tested its proof-of-concept HySET system for over eight hours, electrolysing seawater without desalination, chlorine production or noticeable corrosion, using commercially available materials and components.
Lindau Nobel
Hychor founder Dr Jani Shibuya was selected as one of 600 young scientists worldwide to attend the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting, following a nomination by the University of Aberdeen and recognition of his work in electrochemistry.
Scottish Energy Futures Conference 2025
Hychor founder Dr Jani Shibuya presented the company’s HySET technology to energy sector stakeholders at the Scottish Energy Futures Conference 2025, hosted by AREG and SPE Aberdeen.
